After the last update every time I re-start my PC’s keyboard defaults to English United States instead of UK.
I end up having “ instead of @, I set it to UK and its fine until I re-start, any ideas as its doing my head in.

Change the default input language for Windows In Windows 10 and Windows 8 (applies to Office 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016) From the Start menu, search for Control Panel, and open Control Panel. Under Clock, Language, and Region, click Change input methods. Note: If you don't see Clock, Language, and Region, click Category in the View by menu at the top of the page. Optional: Click Add a language to add a new language. Select the language you want to add, and click Add. Select your language, click Options, and then click Add an input method to add the input language you want. The default input language will be the first language in your language list.
This may help mate..

Home location was set at Gb for mine as well mate, but the language was set at American english, which changes your keyboard layout..when i realised that was the case i changed the setting to Uk english and its working fine now.. It was a hassle as it didnt even show up as an option...just auto set to Usa english.. which is all back to front!!!

I've removed the UK keyboard option (I've got a German keyboard), but it seems every update resets it to a UK keyboard. I have home location set as UK and language as British English (aka Proper English, none of this foreign rubbish, thank you very much, I mean, really, they can't even spell ) I just keep going into the language options and removing the UK keyboard option. While you're busy doing that, it's worth going through all the privacy settings as it seems updates reset an awful lot of them too.

Back to US keyboard on boot up. Doing my head in. Thought it could be a key combination on my 18 button gamer’s mouse but I have the Windows hotkey for languages set to None so left Alt and Shift is disabled. Can still change language using the Windows key & space bar but I don’t have the Windows key configured on my mouse. Got to the point I boot up & change to UK then I am set for the day. Never had anything like this happen before the update.

Found this on the net so see if it fixes the problem for you CyborgTo fix this issue, delete the Preload registry folder and sign out or restart the computer: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload This folder seems to be some legacy remnant that contains non-user-specified keyboard layouts to be added to the list of languages when the user signs in. While the fix itself works through restarts, there's a few things that seem to bring back this folder: Remote desktop to a computer with US layout Win 10 Anniversary update Logging in with Microsoft account on another PC that still has this issue Whenever the problem comes back, that registry folder needs to be deleted again. I have created a RemovePreload.reg text file with the following content, this way this fix can easily be re-applied every time without navigating the registry: Just copy the 2 lines below into notepad, then save it in a text file and change the extension from .txt to .reg. Then whenever it comes back, you can just double click it and restart or sign out. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload]

Microsoft updates and the chances of it utterly borking settings on your PC is something that we all have to live with unfortunately. I have just had to do a clean install on my rig after the April 2018 1803 update because it chose to screw with my graphics card settings.
Try this
Open settings from the start menu and click Time & Language. On the left side select Region and Language and make sure that everything in the window that opens is set to English (United Kingdom). On the right side of the page where it says Related settings, click on advanced keyboard settings. On this page select English (United Kingdom) - United Kingdom from the drop down box under Override for default input method. Next where it says Switching input methods, make sure that Let me set a different input method for each app window check box is cleared and then restart your computer.
If that fails I have had success by deleting all language and keyboard layouts and reinstalling only the ones I want as sometimes Microsoft has a habit of resetting the OS to defaults when they force an update and sometimes those defaults are set to US and not UK.
If all else fails you can try a repair install. Open settings, Update & Security, Recovery and where it says Reset this PC click the Get started button and follow the instructions. Just be sure to select the option to Keep Everything if you want to keep personal files/ folders and apps. If you are not bothered you can select Keep Nothing and it will wipe everything and reset the PC back to a clean install. Just make sure to select English (United Kingdom) for everything during the setup process and you should be OK.
Hope you get it sorted.
