For some unknown reason neither the fingerprint or the key pass unlock worked on my phone when I woke up yesterday. While attempting to get round the problem I ended up with a lock screen that had a large phone icon that rang my house phone when touched. FACTORY RE-SET was the only option so fingers crossed for what I had backed up because its to late now. Amazingly the only things I lost was my contacts and the contents of my password safe. Looking on the bright side my phone has had a good clean out & nothing vital was lost, I have important contacts saved elsewhere & friends will ring at some point so I will get those back, I also have all my passwords saved in other locations but its a pain entering them all back into the safe on the phone. I will have to take my own advice and BACK THINGS UP. While on the back up topic does anyone know of an app that will back up / restore the whole content of an Android phone ? 20+ years ago I used a PDA the ultimate device before smart phones, I could back the device up to a memory card and in the event of a disaster I could easily restore it to its former glory with all apps icons and lay out exactly as it was. I can fined nothing for Android that will do this without rooting the phone but I don’t want to do that.

To backup your entire Android system, ClockWorkMod is one of the best next is TWRP, or want to If you want to skip the full recovery process then go for Titanium Backup which can perform many backup features without doing the full recovery process and it's got a very easy to use interface.

Thanks for the input Balders but all 3 are for rooted phones, I spent a lot of time in the past with custom ROM’s from XDA developers when I had the PDA, yes I found some good ones but I don’t want to go that route again.

If you don't want to go for the full recovery then Titanium Backup can back up without the need to root your mobile. Here's a link to their page that explains just that.

I don’t get it BaldersThey say “How to make your first backup WITHOUT root” Followed by “Now you can root your phone. Once finished rooting, insert the “FullBackup.ab” package on your sdcard “

You have the option of either or either, partial backups can be done on non rooted phones, a full back up, which you know are all your system files will need root.

Sorry about that mate I was having a blonde moment.

Helium looks promising Balders will give it a go on my old phone first, don't want to mess this one up again so soon. When I get some time I will try it out.

Thanks for all the input people but I GIVE UP and that’s not like me Downloaded Helium Premium and still no option to backup half the apps with information stored or the promised option to backup to SD card so opted for Google drive, gave that up after ½ an hour when it was still preforming backup 1 of 28. Its a pain but at least I now know any information I want to keep will have to get backed up elsewhere. Don't understand why a full backup is so hard / impossible to do on devices that millions of people use, Apple do it so why not Android. it was so simple 20+ years ago on my XDA PDA, all my contacts, apps & info even the layout of the icons backed up or restored in 10 minutes.
