Hi. Last week I got an Eleaf istick Tria, and from day one I have been getting atomizer short displayed on the screen. All the atties I’ve tried come up with the same message but work fine on any other of my mods. Its a strange fault it works OK whilst using the mod but when you put it down and leave it for 4 or 5 minuets and then try and and use it again, as soon as you press the fire button it does not fire and shows the atomizer short on the screen, this happens every time the mod as not been used for 4 to 5 min or longer. I’ve tried atties with coils from 1.0 ohm to 1.8 all showing the same fault. To clear the fault I unscrew the attie, press the fire button for a couple of seconds screw the attie back on and it works until it’s not used again for 4 or 5min. As any member come across a fault like this and found a solution. I would appreciate any advise. Thanks.

suzukiv6 the one time I've had something like that was on a mod I made myself, I traced the fault back to a dry joint. EDIT - Wait a minute YOU?!!!? Buying mods???

The reason I bought it,I thought it was a good size to use in the workshop, easy to spot when mixed up with tools etc, plus the fact it was on special offer @£16.00. Think I’ll have a look inside it and see if I can spot anything. I’ll get back to you with the results if I can fix it.

Ah well £16 - doubt I'd be able to buy the parts for that. Was just shocked that a master maker was buying mods

No dry joints or trapped wires. I’ve assembled it and there is no improvement.I have come to the conclusion it must be the firmware, it is upgradable but my old computer is running ME software and I don’t know if it would possible to upgrade the firmware on such an old operating system. What do you think? I don’t want to knacker it up all together.

Well I had a look and cannot see that the execution file that comes with the new firmware requires a 64bit operating system so I cannot see why you won't be able to update on your Windows ME. Also and I know you might have looked at this already, but are you sure that the 510 positive pin is not sticking? Or how about trying to replace the 510 connection altogether?

Thanks for the info on updating the firmware Balders I’ll give it a go. The 510 connection seems to be OK, well soldered connection but it’s not spring loaded it’s getting its movement sitting on an O ring which is not the best design. I’ll try the update, if not successful I’ll have another look at the 510 and as you say it’s probally the best thing to replace it.

The o ring will be split and causing a short Replace it hopefully all should be fine 👍

On further testing I found that the mod works fine on a 0.4ohm coil which is far to low for me to use but any higher the short fault shows. I’ve also updated the firmware which shows no improvement. When I had the mod stripped down I was quite impressed with the quality of the build with all soldered joints very well done. I’ve contacted Eleaf in China with all my findings and am waiting to see what they come up with. I could have sent the mod back to the supplier but with it being so cheap I want to find out what is causing this fault as matter of interest.

I put a Coll in a Vandy Vape berserker yesterday coming out at 1.05 Ohms and the Tria is working perfect. Put a 1.2 ohm coil in and the short fault comes up. Strange one.

As soon as friend of mine calls round I’ll get him to hold the camera whilst I operate the Tria. I will come back with their comments when they get back to me.
