A few months before Christmas I asked the Cafe what would you have as an alternative to a KF lite if there were none left and if you were a big fan as I am and I got a good response from Kf lovers. The Doggy, the Hussar and the Berserker were the popular sugestions as was the KF Prime. I opted first for the Doggystyle and was I surprised ? It arrived in early January . I have never got first impressions so wrong. I looked at it and said to myself it will never hold 3.5mls of juice Wrong. I looked at the size of the juice intake slots and figured it would gugurle and overjuice like Wrong, and finally I could see no obvious reason why it would be a totally leak/seep free tank Wrong. I have been using the Doggy exclusively for the past 3 weeks and because these are not the best times for me I have to say Iv'e been giving it hell and I have to say it's brilliant all the above and more. No leaks whatsoever, there is always a certain amount of slight vapour condinsation etc even from the air intake of a KF but no not from the Doggy. But what about the great flavour the KF gives? I am not going to say that the doggy is better but it is very very close to the KF. Overall a super buy that I'm very happy with very forgiving with build and wicking as was the KF I treat it like a KF and it's performing brilliantly for me. Thank you all that suggested it and I will move on to the others in time.

I would love to comment there but my doggy has apparently been on an airplane for the last 9 days, so it and my prime(ish) should be very well travelled if and when they arrive. Good to know its not going to be crap when/if I ever get my paws on it possum

Will do SputNik their both SXK but I also lifted an extender glass and chimney to increase the capacity on the prime. The scent of machine oil is about the place now that you mention it

Just as a little extension to my post about the Doggy I would have to say that as where it has to be my undoubted best buy of 2017 "arrived 2018" and is without doubt the original for me leak/seep free tank and first I've Ever encountered it does have one flaw. In fairness I doubt that any of us vapers own any piece of vape equipment that doesn't have at least one flaw. But the flaw with the Doggy isn't a big one. It's only irritating problem is when you try to fill it (bottom fill) what you naturally grip at the bottom of the tank is it's air control ring which of course spins freely. Ya that won't work usually so you remove it and with the help of say a big rubber band you unscrew the base and fill. Another alternative method/fix is to insert a small flat head screwdriver into the air intake slot and use it as a lever to both open and close the tank. Nonetheless I would highly recomend this rta.

I'm struggling to like the doggystyled as much as i want to. I have the SXK clone and do wonder whether the genuine one is such a pain in the backside to unscrew the base for refilling. I use a little bit of a micro usb cable wrapped around that o-ring to loosen it which does the job but don't think one should have to resort to aids to do something as simple as refilling.
In terms of flavour, i don't know if i've got the optimum built in it but i'm finding the flavour somewhat lacking, especially on the inhale. I'm comparing with my benchmarks, the kayfun 3.1 and lites.
Another minus for me is that the thing gets terribly hot after a few toots. I've put one of the old faithful kayfun drip tips on top which does improve matters somewhat but it will still get uncomfortable after a while.
I'm using a single, spaced coil in it. 0.30mm SS, 3mm i/d, about 6 wraps, coming in at about 0.85ohms. Any ideas how i can improve things? I'm thinking perhaps changing the coil material, the type of build itself but would like to hear opinions from you sages!!
Thanks

I've only ran a few tanks through the doggystyle but I will agree with a lot of what lemental and possum are saying. Cons: That air flow ring is a serious pain in the arse for when you want to fill up. Right now I doubt I'd take this one out with me for a day as refilling is a pain. The supplied drip tip gets horribly warm for me I've gone for a plastic/PTFE one. No juice control, well at this price point I cant expect that, but its greedy. I have serious doubts about how long the plastic tank is going to last with just filling up, I think the threads will die sooner rather than later. Pros: The flavour and density of the vape ticks all my boxes enough to ignore any cons and then some. Very easy to build on. If its of any use lemental I popped in a 2.5mm coil with 0.3mm kanthal and 7 wraps coming out at about 1.5ohm and am enjoying that so much that I'm not inclined to play about with it at the moment.

Thanks feeson. I've not tried building at over 1 ohm but will try again, this time with kanthal instead of SS I've also not tried a contact coil yet so will have a go with that too if i'm still not quite happy!

My coils are not quite contact lemental but I think they are not what most would call spaced, they are "just" not touching, I strum to fan them out that little bit. Habit more than sound practice probably.

I finally lost my patience and am just running the doggystyle without the airflow ring rather than see how far the whole set up could bounce off a wall, it did my nut in so I pulled it off, I like it fine full open but I know that wont suit some.

Sorry folks I've been in and out of hospital for quite a bit recently so sometimes get it hard to keep up. To lemental I will say that the doggy is best enjoyed for what it is at OVER 1ohm It's Just not a successful sub ohm RTA. I have been using it similar to KF lites = 1.5/1.6 ohm on an 2.5 spaced coil vapeing it between 10.5 and 11 watts and I am finding it brilliant. It's giving me similar results to the ole KF but is the dryest atty I have ever put on a mod, not even a hint of condensation which exists near the air intake of Even KFuns. It has all the positives of a KF but in a smaller package . I have stated the downsides which are obvious but I consider them a small price to pay for the benefits. I am using the doggy with a ss drip tip from day one and if their was a heat to lips problem I would have well known about it by now.
