Kayfun coiling and wicking help

I made this guide some years ago for someone but gave them it printed out so I hope this picture helps you out.

I've always built my Kayfun with .28 easy to get under the screws and used contact coils 2.5mm bit wraps 5/6 or 6/7 normally ohms out around 1.38 muji cotton vape's a treat

That would be great, I won't be able to see it until I get in from work around 9.30, so no rush and if you can't mange it right now just let me know when you do get the chance, and also any recommendations on the best size wire to work with those tiny screws would be awesome should you or anyone else have some.

That's how I do mine so the cotton is just touching the Base...and try make it fluffy....don't pack it in ...with a Kayfun less is more . Mine is the lite so not loads of air flow so I like to build it over 1ohm but under 1.5ish

I used to love the navy nest build in the Kayfun lite but I've not used silica for maybe 3 years

Cyborg I just re-read your post and 28g is something that was mentioned to me so I might just order some as the 24 seems a bit chunky for those screws, I can't recall right now which versions they all are but 1 is definitely a 5 pawns or a clone of and the decks on the other all seem around the same size. I did wonder if there was a screw of similar size but with a larger head to it for capturing the wire.

I'd definitely recommend 28g and a 2.5mm bit

i dont "do" awg as its pointless, when a "size" can refer to 3 Different diameters of wire,

0.25mm to 0.3mm will but that is About your limit

aim for "about" a ohm and a bit,, 1.0 to 1.8 as that range Seems to be where pretty much most folk end up liking a kayfun lite/lite+ which is the base shown

a couple of winds went over each other, simple to unwind and redo correctly like that, even when you have plates/pins in your thumb,
that, with Ni200 for temp or 0.27mm kanthal for vw/mech is how all my 3.1es/lites get built, and same coiling technique for all coils just placement/wicking changes for other tanks

youd want the coil to be approx 2-3mm up from the ait tube in the kayfun , about where the vid shows it, wick it with not a lot of cotton, cut to length to Just rest on the shelf either side of the coil +ve block, they really Dont need fancy ass "nest coils" or other extra faffery ,, the fig 8 silica loop works very well as does a very simple cotton build fluff the ends where they touch the shelf,, dont trap them when you screw the chamber on ,, juice em well , chimney on,, and you can test toot there if you slide a dt onto the end of the chimney , the orriginal dt with the kayfun should fit if its a gen SM jobbie,

yours is a contact mines spaced but other than that "snap"
oh and i wet the wicks to make them stick to the deck/shelves before putting the chamber on,,

SputNik build/wick looks spot on.
I (used to) do mine by pulling the wick through the chamber then chopping it off level with the top after its been screwed down then fluff it up then gently push it into the spaces at the side of the deck so its still fluffy.

i suck more than you so use the full size 4.5ml tanks 
good point on contact V spaced for spitting and distance to DT (and bore size of dt "!")

also i find if the cotton is loose in the coil it spits far more than when its "snug but not too tight" with spaced coils,

Thank you Guys I now have something to refer to when I next sit down to battle my way through coiling and wicking but I need to order some wire first and from memory the decks look very similar to that shown, I hope to get it right and then I only have 4 more to do which by my reckoning should keep the mrs set for a good few months or maybe longer though if the coiling part goes well I may just run up a few and put them aside, but then I will need to bookmark this thread so that I can come back to it in the future.

Ive got a load of .3 wire I dont use.
